A dear friend asked me to do a steel gate for her new home at the base of the Capitan Mountains. Knowing that I worked mainly in wood, didn't detour her from asking me to do a steel piece going into her garden. I was inspired. The day it was delivered was special, it felt like a full circle was completed. I built the right side first, water and air. But, before finishing the left side, earth and fire, I went through the passing of my father, the portal to the other side. He had taught me many things about building with metal, and we had worked on the gate together. Life with it's precious moments were an intergral part of the process.
